• Drew Barrymore backs 'gay friendly' Obama • 09 Oct 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY
Drew Barrymore has thrown her weight behind Barack Obama's presidential campaign, after the senator's passionate speech about gay rights made her cry.
The actress insists Obama has inspired her to break the habit of a lifetime and wade into the fierce debate surrounding his battle with the Republican candidate, Senator John McCain. Barrymore tells the November issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine, "When I heard him speak about a gay person never having to sit outside the hospital room with their loved one sick inside, I burst into tears because so many people I care about are homosexual and it was profound to have someone be sensitive to that. That's the kind of world I want to live in, where we're not holding our own principles in judgment above someone or against someone." And she admits, "It's the first time I've really admitted I'm a Democrat." • DREW BARRYMORE - CHIHUAHUA BARKS TO US BOX OFFICE NUMBER ONE • 09 Oct 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY
The family comedy, which features Drew Barrymore as the voice of a pampered pet who gets lost in Mexico, took $29 million (£16.5 million) in its first three days on release to debut at number one.
With seven new films released, three of which failed to dent the top ten, Beverly Hills Chihuahua's success is "terrific", according to Disney president of distribution Chuck Viane. "It's not easy to compete when there is that much distraction and people are being pulled in every direction," he told Variety. Last week's number one Eagle Eye, starring Shia LaBeouf, fell to second, while Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, featuring Juno actor Michael Cera, recopuped nearly all of its production costs to debut in third with $12.2 million (£6.8 million). Ed Harris' new Western Apppaloosa opened in fifth, while two new politically-themed releases also reached the top ten after their opening weekend on release. An American Carol, a supposed satire of Hollywood's liberal politics, debuted in ninth while Religulous, comedian Bill Maher's documentary about organised religion, charted at ten. Simon Pegg's new comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People failed to make a huge impression on US cinemagoers with just $1.4 million (£797,000) in its first three days on release. • Pictures of Drew Barrymore • 27 Aug 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY

• Eve Rolls W/ Drew Barrymore In Upcoming Flick • 27 Aug 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY
Grammy award winning rapper/actor Eve will co-star in Drew Barrymore’s directorial film debut, Whip It!, based on a beauty-pageant contestant turned roller derby competitor.
According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), the project began production earlier this month and focuses on a misfit woman looking to relieve her small-town complications by joining a team of roller derby women based out of Bodeen, Texas. Shauna Cross, who is also writing the screenplay, based the comedy/drama on her young adult novel Derby Girl. While details are still scarce, Eve’s role has been confirmed, as she will be playing alongside the main character “Bliss Cavendar”, portrayed by Ellen Page (Juno), as her sidekick and friend “Rosa Sparks”. This will be Eve’s latest movie role as she has starred in various films including both Barbershop movies, The Woodsman, The Cookout and on her own self-titled television show. Currently being filmed in Michigan, the R-rated flick is scheduled to hit theatres next year. • Random pictures of Drew Barrymore • 09 Aug 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY
Things are so quiet... I thought you'd appreciate a bit of action so I scanned an old edition of ELLE magazine that I bought in France, and I also created a new album where I will upload from time to time random articles & scans when I don't know in what magazine I found them or when they're just not worth having an album on their own. Basically, I kinda count on you to submit your own scans too!
• Justin Long too heartbroken to act with ex Drew Barrymore • 27 Jul 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY
Hollywood actor Justin Long is so distressed over his split with actress Drew Barrymore, that he's decided not act in her directorial debut Whip It! Apparently the 'Charlie's Angels' actress dumped Long as she could not get over ex-lover rocker Fabrizio Morreti - something that left Long completely agitated.
"He couldn't stand working with her and not being with her, he's too upset," E!Online quoted a Long insider, as saying. "She dumped him, she was hot and cold, one minute she was in love with him and the next she wanted to break up with him," the insider said. "He is so distraught over the split that he dropped out of the movie," the insider added. Chris Miller, a representative for Barrymore's production company Flower Films did not confirm whether Long had been formally attached to the project or not. "We never comment on cast," Miller said. On the other hand Long's publicist did not immediately return calls to comment 'Whip It!' is based on the book 'Derby Girls', about a female derby player. It will however see her starring alongside Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis, Marcia Gay Harden, Zoe Bell and Kristen Wiig. • Welcome to Drew Barrymore Daily • 22 Jul 2008 • POSTED BY DREW BARRYMORE DAILY
